Adventure News: Anita and team make their way through Western Sahara; landmines, military checkpoints ‘and the most beautiful views (Anita) has ever seen’

Current location: Somewhere in Western Sahara – 2 days drive from Morocco proper

Anita and team are now traversing the disputed country of Western Sahara. Having spent much of the last 40 years in a perpetual state of war, it is perhaps unsurprising that the team are seeing little evidence of settlement aside from the dozens of military checkpoints. Despite the brutal war that has passed over these lands, Anita says she has never seen a place quite so beautiful as that which she is staying in tonight. A Bedouin tented camp, in amongst the sand dunes – and quilted with a Saharan night sky…enough said!

Anyways, I have once again recorded our phone conversation with her. It is quite surreal that she can have a phone call with us in a place such as this!

Anita and team are due back in the UK on the 20th April. If you are enjoying reading about their adventure, please feel free to share these entries with others using the ‘share/save’ button below. You can also receive this and other Bansang Hospital Appeal news direct to your email inbox.
